Jack Cogger Reflects on Newcastle's Revival

Jack Cogger Reflects on Knights' Resurgence Amidst Panthers' Uncertainty

Jack Cogger has been observing from a distance as his former team, the Newcastle Knights, revitalizes its performance.

The Panthers playmaker expressed satisfaction in witnessing his junior club enjoy a turnaround.

Having contributed to Penrith's success in the 2023 premiership, Cogger made his way back to Newcastle in 2024, where he initially kicked off his NRL journey.

During his return to his youth club, he faced hardships in the 2025 season, as Newcastle ended up at the bottom of the ladder with only six victories.

This season saw Cogger rejoin Penrith, yet his admiration for Newcastle remains unwavering, particularly in light of their recent achievements that have positively impacted the local community.

"It was a tough 12 months last year, but they are definitely on the right track," he said.

Cogger specifically praised players like Phoenix Crossland and Mat Croker, stating, "They are a couple of years younger than me but came through the system as well and played in the 20s together. They have really found their feet and are leaders in that team now."

While the Knights are experiencing a notable turnaround, Cogger is finding his footing once again at Penrith, gradually taking on a more significant role.

"Plenty of things have made me happy with returning here," he remarked.

"You know there is a coach that believes in me, obviously a strong system that has been proven over a number of years. So being able to fit into that system and feel valued makes you feel good and play better."
