Penrith Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has hit back at accusations that he is resting full-fit players ahead of the NRL finals.

The Panthers will be missing Mitch Kenny, Scott Sorenson, and Izack Tago in their upcoming game against Parramatta.

However, Cleary has defended his decision, stating that the players are dealing with significant injuries and are not fit to play.

He also clarified that if it were a grand final, the situation might be different, but his priority is to get the players in perfect shape for the finals.

Cleary's conservative approach to resting players before the finals is not new.

In previous years, he has given his starters a break before the playoffs, and this year is no different.

With the minor premiership race heating up, Cleary's focus is on ensuring his team is in the best possible condition for another shot at the premiership.

Despite the Panthers and Broncos being equal on points, Cleary denied any intention of resting fit players for strategic reasons.

The coach emphasized that the injuries are genuine, and the team's priority is the players' well-being.

As the regular season comes to a close, Cleary and the Panthers are focused on their preparations for the finals and maintaining their winning form.
