Jamayne Isaako, the Dolphins' star winger and goal-kicker, has made headlines by announcing his departure from the club to join the Melbourne Storm starting in 2027.
Isaako, known for his consistency and for never missing a game since the Dolphins' inception, is among several outside backs whose contracts expire at the end of the current season.
The Dolphins face tough decisions regarding their backs, especially with an abundance of players vying for limited positions, even with Jack Bostock currently sidelined.
Currently, the off-contract list includes back five players like Jake Averillo, Selwyn Cobbo, and Trai Fuller, alongside Isaako.
Additional players available to the club are Bostock, Herbie Farnworth, and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, as well as promising youngsters Tevita Naufahu and LJ Nonu, all secured until at least the end of 2027.
Though Isaako has shown impressive performances both in kicking and scoring, he was never at risk of being let go. However, his management took to Instagram on Sunday to announce his two-year deal with the Storm, effective from the beginning of 2027.
The Storm have officially confirmed the transfer.
"Jamayne is a high-quality and experienced player who adds speed and versatility to the backline," stated Frank Ponissi, the director of football.
