Dom Young has been given the green light to leave the Roosters, with the club aiming to clear more salary cap space amidst rumors of a significant signing.

Recently, Young was dropped from the Roosters' lineup against the Dragons due to concerns over his defense.

Coach Trent Robinson opted to replace him with Mark Nawaqanitawase and brought Billy Smith into the center position, a strategy that has yielded successful results, including a 46-18 victory over the Dragons and another win during Magic Round.

Following his absence in round 10, it was reported by The Daily Telegraph that Young is free to negotiate with rival clubs ahead of a June 1 deadline.

He joined the Roosters from the Knights in 2024 on a four-year, $2 million deal, but like Terrell May, he has been allowed to exit his contract early to join another team this year.

With Daniel Tupou also set to depart the club at the end of the season, Young's potential exit raises further intrigue.

The Knights are reportedly interested in re-signing Young, who previously scored 25 tries for them in the 2023 season.

His departure could free up approximately $500,000 next year, along with additional cap space in 2025.

The situation raises questions about the Roosters' financial flexibility moving forward.
