Warrington Wolves head coach Daryl Powell has departed the Super League club by mutual consent following a string of disappointing results, including eight defeats in nine games.

The announcement of Powell's departure came shortly after a heavy defeat for the team.

Powell, 58, had taken charge of Warrington for the 2022 season after spending eight successful years at Castleford.

In the interim, Gary Chambers has been appointed as caretaker coach.

The club expressed gratitude to Powell for his dedication and efforts during his time with the team but stated that they believe a fresh approach is now necessary for the squad.
