The NRL has issued a breach notice to Isaiah Iongi, the Parramatta Eels fullback, following the emergence of a controversial image on social media several weeks ago.
There are no claims of illegal activity associated with Iongi, and reports suggest that the images in question date back several years.
In late February, the club alerted the NRL's integrity unit prior to the start of the season, which has now confirmed the issuance of the breach notice to Iongi.
"The National Rugby League (NRL) today issued Parramatta Eels player Isaiah Iongi with a Breach Notice alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following an NRL Integrity Unit investigation," reads an official statement.
"The particulars of the Breach Notice, determined by the Independent Decision Maker (IDM), are that Iongi featured in imagery, which emerged publicly on 22 February 2026, which has brought the game into disrepute."
"Iongi has 5 business days to respond to the Breach Notice."
Diving deeper into the specifics, the current collective bargaining agreement prevents the NRL from disclosing any potential penalties for Iongi until after the five-day response period is over.
While it's presumed that the talented fullback, under a long-term contract with the club, may avoid suspension, he is likely to incur a financial penalty, with a suspended ban pending any future infractions.
The Eels are set to face Penrith this Saturday.
