Injury Concerns for Knights' Star Player

The Newcastle Knights are anxiously awaiting the results of scans for Fletcher Sharpe, who was sidelined during the first half of the team's season opener in Las Vegas against the North Queensland Cowboys.

The five-eighth sustained a non-contact knee injury roughly 25 minutes into the match while playing defensively.

Feeling immediate discomfort, Newcastle's medical team performed an ACL assessment, which yielded a positive outcome despite Sharpe's visible difficulty moving.

Shortly after, a try was scored near his defensive position, prompting Sharpe to exit the field.

Earlier in the match, Sharpe had electrified the game, scoring the first try and contributing to the second, helping the Knights to a commanding 12-0 lead just 14 minutes in.

As the game progressed, the Cowboys, missing their star fullback Scott Drinkwater due to injury, managed to score two consecutive tries, leveling the match at 12 points apiece shortly before halftime.

However, North Queensland is optimistic that Drinkwater will make a comeback after suffering what is being described as a rib cartilage injury.
