North Queensland Cowboys outside back Tom Chester has secured a contract extension with the club despite recovering from his second ACL injury.

Chester first suffered this injury in 2023 and sustained another one during pre-season training in December.

The new deal will keep him at the Cowboys until at least the end of the 2026 NRL season.

Chester, who started his career with the Cowboys Young Guns and moved up to the Top 30 roster, has shown promise in his limited appearances, scoring four tries in 12 matches.

His versatility in being able to play in both the back-line and forwards makes him a valuable asset to the team if he can stay injury-free.

Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck acknowledged Chester's injury setbacks but expressed confidence in his potential for a successful NRL career.

Luck stated, "Tom has had a horrible run with injury over the last few seasons, but we still believe he has the potential to have a successful NRL career."

Despite the setbacks, Chester's resilience and determination have earned him the trust and support from the Cowboys management, who see him as a player with a bright future if he can overcome his injury woes.

The contract extension reflects the team's belief in his abilities and potential impact on the field once he returns to full fitness.

Overall, Tom Chester's new deal with the North Queensland Cowboys signifies the team's commitment to supporting him through his recovery and eventual return to the field.

With the right support and rehabilitation, Chester has the potential to secure a starting role in the team's line-up and make a significant impact in the NRL.
