Jack Bostock says he has not re-signed with the Dolphins, and expects to be off contract when rival clubs can approach him from November 1.
"It's still getting figured out now with my manager and the Dolphins," he said.
"Obviously being in here [Kangaroos camp] doesn't help the cause, but my manager's on to it all, so whatever happens we'll finalise soon.
"Like I said, being in here has made it a little bit difficult because we can't all meet up, and obviously Woolfy [Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf] being in Tonga camp as well. It's not been the easiest road to sort of get there, but it's in the works."
Bostock's contract ends after the 2027 NRL season, and the Dragons are considering a major offer for the former local junior in 2028.
After joining the Dolphins before his 2023 NRL debut, he has excelled as a centre in 2026 and made his NSW debut in State of Origin this year. He is also set to represent the Kangaroos at the World Cup.
Though Bostock has indicated he wants to stay, the Dolphins face pressure on their salary funds after extensions and upgrades for players including Selwyn Cobbo and Kuliefu Finefeuiaki, plus a seven-figure-plus offer for Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.
The Dragons could have room to bid, with Valentine Holmes and Clint Gutherson likely to leave at the end of 2027. The club has also made key signings and re-signings as it tries to climb from the bottom of the NRL ladder.
