Nicho Hynes recently shared an emotional story behind his try celebration during a game on Friday night, which served as a tribute to the late Steven Munster.
Hynes, who made his NRL debut in 2019 alongside Munster at the Melbourne Storm, reflected on their relationship and the time spent with Munster's father in the sheds post-game.
In light of Munster's passing, Hynes felt compelled to honor him after scoring.
The Sharks halfback's celebration was not only supported by his teammates but also acknowledged by rivals, demonstrating the impact Munster had within the sport.
Hynes explained, "It was just a little dance that we used to do every time we had a couple of beers together," highlighting the personal connection and cherished moments they shared.
During the match, where Hynes scored twice in a 24-12 victory over the Dolphins, he expressed that the loss hit close to home.
"I've just been thinking about him a lot.
I've been talking to my girlfriend about it.
That could have been me.
That could be anyone waking up without their dad or a parent."
He further conveyed his condolences to Munster's family, stating, "I just remember after games at Melbourne, seeing his old man and old lady in the sheds always smiling and happy." This heartfelt tribute not only showcased Hynes' respect for his late friend and teammate but also highlighted the emotional bonds formed in the world of rugby league.
