Hull KR Coach Set for NRL Opportunity

Hull KR Announces Willie Peters' Departure

Super League champions Hull KR have addressed the future of their head coach, Willie Peters, in a recent statement.

Peters has played a pivotal role in revitalizing the Kingston Rovers, transforming them from bottom dwellers to world champions in merely three years.

Once on the verge of collapse, he has elevated the club's status, becoming one of its most celebrated coaches.

His achievements signal that he possesses the credentials to coach at the highest level in the world rugby league, specifically the NRL.

Rumors are circulating that he may take the helm of the Papua New Guinea Chiefs, with Hull KR officially confirming that he will leave the club after the 2026 season to join an NRL team.

Hull KR owner Neil Hudgell expressed that a coach of Peters' caliber deserves to depart on his own terms, extending gratitude for his valuable contributions.

"As the coach of the World Club Champions, he deserves to go out on his terms, with the respect, appreciation, and best wishes," Hudgell stated.

"Willie Peters led us to the most successful season in the history of Hull Rugby League in 2025."

"For now, and for the rest of this year, he will continue to drive a culture that demands success."
