Mark Hughes, nearly a decade after the inception of the NRL Beanie for Brain Cancer Round, expresses pride in the significant advancements made in combating brain cancer.
According to nrl.com.au, over $35 million has been raised through his foundation linked to this special round, contributing to vital progress in research and care for patients.
Following his own high-grade brain cancer diagnosis in 2013, Hughes, along with his wife Kirralee, established the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) to generate funds aimed at finding a cure.
The Beanie for Brain Cancer Round was initiated by Matt Callander, Channel Nine's executive producer of rugby league, who succumbed to brain cancer in 2017.
Hughes' ongoing commitment highlights not only personal resilience but also collective effort in the fight against this challenging disease.
