Melbourne Storm champion Ryan Hoffman has joined the AFL side, the Melbourne Demons, in an off-field capacity for the 2026 season.
The 41-year-old assumes a leadership position following a change in the Demons' senior coaching staff during the off-season.
In September, the Demons appointed Steven King as their new coach after the dismissal of premiership coach Simon Goodwin late in the home and away season.
Hoffman's transition between codes isn't unprecedented; his former Storm teammate Billy Slater took on a leadership and development role with St Kilda prior to the 2019 season.
This year, the Storm also reached out to four-time premiership player Joel Selwood, who recently completed his celebrated AFL career, while Todd Payten was seen mentoring Hawthorn in their coaches box earlier in the season.
Since retiring from the NRL in 2018, marking the end of a notable 16-year career, Hoffman has been active in media, serving as a commentator for the ABC.
As a 14-time New South Wales representative, Hoffman played 359 league games from 2003 to 2018, which included three separate stints with the Storm.
