The PNG Chiefs have named Willie Peters head coach ahead of their 2028 launch as the NRL's 19th team.
Peters leaves Hull KR after winning the Challenge Cup, League Leaders' Shield and Super League Grand Final, ending a 40-year trophy drought.
He also led Hull KR over Brisbane in February's World Club Challenge.
Former NSW halfback Trent Hodkinson agreed to join after touring the Chiefs' resort base.
7 News reports he is expected to sign a three-year deal and move to PNG in December.
Hodkinson played 174 first-grade games for Manly, Canterbury-Bankstown, Newcastle and Cronulla.
He represented City and NSW, made his 2014 Origin debut and helped Canterbury reach that year's Grand Final.
Assistant Luke Burt, a former Parramatta winger, took Burleigh to a 2023 minor premiership and Grand Final, then the 2025 premiership.
He will also coach goal-kicking.
The Chiefs' entry is a landmark for PNG league, where the sport has passionate support.
Players and staff will receive tax-free salaries under Australia's $600 million, ten-year agreement.
