Hetherington sidelined for one game after tunnel scuffle

Jack Hetherington hit with suspension by NRL over tunnel altercation with Reed Mahoney

Jack Hetherington has been given the old heave-ho by the NRL after getting into a bit of a blue with Reed Mahoney in the tunnel during the Bulldogs' victory over Newcastle.

Hetherington and Mahoney were both given the marching orders and Sin Bin invitations for their tussle in the dying moments of the match.

Cameras caught the moment when Hetherington, perhaps in jest, went toe-to-toe with Mahoney in the tunnel on their way off the field.

A cheeky jab from Hetherington seemed to catch Mahoney off guard before the Knights forward retaliated with a push.

The NRL didn't see the funny side of Hetherington's antics and handed him a suspension.

If Hetherington decides to have a crack at fighting the charges, he could cop an extra game on the sidelines.

Mahoney has been offered a fine for his role in the altercation.
