"He's a real chance": Cameron Munster on track to face Eels as Storm winger cleared of injury after stunning performance
Leading the pack by a solid four points, the Storm is gearing up for an even stronger performance with their key player on the brink of making his comeback from injury.
According to reports from news.com.au, standout five-eighth Cameron Munster will need to pass two rigorous training sessions this week, with the Storm feeling optimistic about his chances of returning from an adductor injury that sidelined him since Magic Round.
Munster sustained a tear in his adductor tendon back in May during the Storm's impressive victory over Parramatta, but now the seasoned five-eighth is on track to face the Eels on Friday night.
Despite being restricted to just seven appearances for the Storm this season and missing out on the State of Origin series with the Maroons, Munster opted to avoid surgery, ensuring his swift return for the finals.
With the Storm comfortably sitting at the top of the ladder, there's a possibility of giving Munster a breather against the lower-ranked Eels if he's not completely match-fit, as Melbourne is set to clash with the Dragons the following Saturday.
"He's a good chance for Friday night, but he's got to get through this week," remarked Storm head of football Frank Ponissi.
"He'll hit the training field today, join the team for training tomorrow, and then the decision will be made whether he'll be in the squad."
