Henson Park tackles $20 million makeover touchdown

Henson Park, the iconic home of the Newtown Jets, is currently undergoing a significant $20 million upgrade, thanks to funding from various entities including the Inner West Council, the NSW and Federal Governments, and the AFL.

The improvements aim to modernize facilities for both rugby league and AFL, ultimately enhancing the game-day experience for players, officials, and fans alike.

According to zerotackle.com, the funding breakdown includes contributions of $5.5 million from Inner West Council, $5 million from the NSW Government, $2.5 million from the Federal Government, and a combined $6.5 million investment from the AFL for both stages of the upgrade.

Stage 1 of the upgrade is already in progress and is expected to be completed by August 2025.

This phase includes the construction of new change rooms, a gym, community space, and an extension to the grandstand.

Stage 2 will then commence, bringing additional amenities such as new toilets, a canteen, coaches' boxes, and upgraded media facilities.

The entire upgrade project is scheduled to be finished by 2026.

This significant investment in Henson Park will not only benefit the local community but will also provide a modern and updated facility for sports enthusiasts of both rugby league and AFL.
