HBG Reclaims Control of Tigers Board
The Holman Barnes Group (HBG) has recently made significant waves, indicating their power is likely to persist.
As reported by the Daily Telegraph, HBG has regained control of the Wests Tigers board, solidifying its role as the club's majority shareholder amidst increasing fan dissatisfaction and recent interference from the NRL.
The newly restructured board convened on Monday evening, with representatives from Holman Barnes and Western Suburbs now holding a decisive majority, thereby granting them significant influence over the club's governance.
This meeting occurred just days after nearly 1,000 Tigers fans gathered in Ashfield to protest against the management, voicing their discontent over the removal of independent directors and demanding enhanced transparency and stability within the joint venture.
The reconfigured board is expected to comprise up to nine members, with five positions allocated to nominees from Holman Barnes or Western Suburbs.
Representing the major shareholder are Holman Barnes chief executive Daniel Paton, deputy chairman Frank Primerano, board member Mick Liubinskas, and chief commercial officer Michelle Nielsen.
While former Holman Barnes chairman Dennis Burgess has stepped down from the Tigers board, he continues to oversee the club's major shareholders.
