Queensland's very own XXXX is rallying the troops to support the beloved Great Barrier Reef Foundation with their new initiative 'Support Schooners'.
In true Aussie spirit, they are encouraging Queenslanders to lend a hand by simply enjoying a cold XXXX Gold schooner.
From now until April 26, for every XXXX Gold schooner sold at selected ALH venues across the state, 50 cents will be donated to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
This initiative comes as a response to the unfortunate bleaching events occurring on the precious reef, as a result of the impacts of climate change and rising sea temperatures, exacerbated by last year's El Nino conditions in the Pacific Ocean.
The funds raised will go towards planting much-needed coral on the reef and supporting the Foundation's coral IVF efforts.
To give an extra boost to the cause, 50 cents from every schooner sold at the upcoming NRL clash between the North Queensland Cowboys and Gold Coast Titans at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on April 7 will also go towards supporting the Great Barrier Reef.
The Cowboys Leagues Club will continue the initiative throughout the month of April.
XXXX is even stepping up by replacing their logo on the Cowboys shorts with the GBRF logo, in a move to raise further awareness for the foundation.
So, grab a schooner, support a great cause, and show that Queensland spirit by standing up for the reef we all hold dear.
