The South Sydney Rabbitohs have secured the services of promising young talent Peter Mamouzelos, who is expected to take over the starting dummy half position in the near future.

Mamouzelos, who has already represented Greece at the international level, has patiently waited his turn at the Burrow, with limited NRL game time since his debut last year.

As the backup to Damien Cook, Mamouzelos is likely to continue in that role for the next couple of years until Cook's current contract expires, allowing him to seamlessly transition into the number nine role at Redfern.

However, coach Jason Demetriou may explore opportunities to give Mamouzelos valuable playing time off the bench, ensuring he gains the necessary experience at the highest level.

The 23-year-old's contract extension, which runs until the end of 2027, demonstrates the club's confidence in his potential.

Mamouzelos was able to negotiate with other teams since November last year, a testament to his rising reputation in the league.
