In a crucial victory, Salford Red Devils ended their 13-game Super League winless streak, defeating Castleford Tigers 26-22, aided by Chris Hankinson's 10-point performance.
Hankinson scored two tries and kicked three conversions, contributing significantly to Salford's second win of the season.
This match provided a much-needed break from the club's financial troubles.
Castleford, who played without a head coach after parting ways with Danny McGuire following a loss to Huddersfield, struggled throughout the game and faced criticism from their traveling fans as they neared another defeat.
In contrast, Salford showcased a revitalized team under coach Paul Rowley, who had previously seen his side concede an alarming average of over 42 points per match this season.
The team's turnaround was evident as they regained control during the final minutes of the first half.
Rowley benefitted from several player additions, including Olly Russell on a short-term loan and the returns of Joe Mellor and Loghan Lewis from injury.
Debutant Declan Murphy also made a promising impact at the back.
Meanwhile, Castleford tried to rebound and had moments of opportunity, including a near score from Josh Simm within the first minute, but ultimately couldn't capitalize.
The match highlighted the contrasting fortunes of the two clubs, with Salford celebrating a much-deserved victory while Castleford continued to face challenges both on and off the field.
