Half-price Cobbo: Broncos cling to their star

The Brisbane Broncos are reportedly still considering the future of axed outside back Selwyn Cobbo, despite his ongoing stint in reserve grade.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, Cobbo's situation looked increasingly precarious this week when he was once again excluded from Michael Maguire's lineup for the match against the Cronulla Sharks.

Compounding this uncertainty was the recent re-signing of key players Adam Reynolds, Kotoni Staggs, and Blake Mozer, which seemed to solidify the idea that the Broncos can only retain one between Staggs or Cobbo.

The signings of these three players, with upgraded contracts, suggest that the Broncos are stretching their salary cap, further hinting at Cobbo's potential exit by the end of 2025.

Cobbo himself has mentioned his willingness to leave Brisbane, despite his deep ties to Cherbourg, where he grew up.

However, there are concerns that not re-signing him could result in losing a valuable talent to the game altogether, as noted in a report by News Corp.

In summary, while the Broncos appear to be moving on, Cobbo's future remains uncertain and contingent upon significant salary adjustments.
