Gold Coast Titans backrower Klese Haas has found himself in hot water after his team's trial match against the Dolphins on the Sunshine Coast.
The NRL Match Review Committee wasted no time in charging Haas with a grade one contrary conduct charge for an accidental hair pull on Gerome Burns in the 50th minute.
This incident has put Haas in a precarious position, with a potential fine of $1,000 if he decides to take an early guilty plea.
However, if he chooses to contest the charge and ends up losing, he could face a higher penalty of $1,500.
Despite this setback, Haas remains a strong contender to fill in for the injured David Fifita when the NRL Telstra Premiership kicks off in round 1.
The Titans will be hopeful that Haas can step up to the challenge and provide the same level of impact as Fifita, who is known for his explosive playstyle.
Whether Haas can replicate Fifita's presence on the field remains to be seen, but he has the opportunity to prove himself as a valuable asset to the team.
