Mixed Reports Surrounding Payne Haas' Future

Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas is reportedly inclined to remain with his current club amidst ongoing speculation regarding the R360 league.

Haas stands as a significant figure in the NRL and is currently a target for the Saudi Arabia-backed league, which has proposed a lucrative deal offering him $3 million annually, paid up front, to lure him away from his NRL commitments.

As a premiership-winning representative player, Haas has been contemplating his next move in recent weeks; however, he has remained discreet about his plans for the 2027 season onward.

The NRL has also implemented a potential ten-year ban for players switching codes, which has reportedly weighed on Haas's decision-making process. According to News Corp, concerns about R360's viability and their ability to launch successfully may further dissuade him from making a switch.

Recent reports indicate that, despite ongoing speculation as of Tuesday suggesting he might still consider the move, Haas has confided in another representative player that his inclination is to stay with the Broncos.

Adding to the uncertainty, journalist Brent Read mentioned on Triple M Radio that Haas is currently in Fiji and cannot be contacted. "Payne's on a Fijian island right now with no phone connection. He's off limits for a couple of weeks but when he gets back I think Peter V'landys will pick up the phone and have a chat with him," Read stated on Triple M's NRL Daily.
