Haas hopes for good four-tune in high-stakes game against Storm
Broncos enforcer Payne Haas is optimistic that a strong victory over the Storm on Thursday will secure his team a top-four finish as they head into the finals.
Historically, the Storm has been a challenging opponent for the Broncos, holding a record of 43-14 (with one draw) against them. Haas emphasized the need for an enhanced performance ahead of the finals, especially after a narrow victory over the Cowboys in their previous match.
Although the win against the Cowboys lifted them into the top four, the Sharks and Warriors also have the opportunity to claim that coveted position in this round.
Haas had been battling the flu prior to the match in Townsville, but his health did not hinder his performance. He stood out in the 38-30 victory, scoring a try, making a team-high of 35 tackles, and achieving 149 run metres.
However, the team fell short in several key areas, leading to a frustrated halftime reaction from coach Michael Maguire, whose animated address to the players was caught on camera. The Broncos recorded 17 errors, a completion rate of 69 percent, and missed 32 tackles throughout the game.
