St George Illawarra Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has made several commendable recruitment choices since joining the club, with the signings of veteran players Clint Gutherson, Damien Cook, and Valentine Holmes leading the pack.
Clint Gutherson, in particular, has emerged as an excellent addition to the Dragons, earning the club's Player of the Year title in his inaugural season.
However, discussions about his age have surfaced as he approaches 2026, with many supporters anticipating a shift to a less intensive role for the 31-year-old fullback as he nears the latter stages of his career.
"He's definitely not slowing up at the moment, he's winning everything," Flanagan commented on the team captain.
"Obviously we have to plan for everything, and that'll come pretty quickly for 'Gutho', but at the moment we're just keeping the fingers crossed that he has a healthy year because he's as fit as he's ever been."
Flanagan acknowledged that Gutherson's current level of athleticism and fitness surpasses expectations for his age, and he anticipates great performances from him in the upcoming season.
"If you didn't know his age and watched his training, you wouldn't know that he's one of the older players, that's for sure," he remarked.
