Slade Griffin, the 32-year-old former player, has been promoted to assistant coach for the New Zealand Warriors' NRL football team for the 2024 season.

This move comes after the departure of Justin Morgan.

Griffin will be joining the current assistant coaches, Stacey Jones and Richard Agar, to support head coach Andrew Webster in his second campaign.

Griffin's promotion comes as a reward for his successful first year as the New South Wales Cup coach.

Under his guidance, the team finished in third place during the regular season and came close to reaching the grand final, falling just one win short.

Replacing Griffin as the New South Wales Cup coach will be the experienced David Tangata-Toa.

Tangata-Toa has an extensive coaching background, having worked with teams such as Penrith, North Queensland, Canterbury Bankstown, and Mate Ma'a Tonga.

This appointment shows the team's commitment to bringing in experienced and knowledgeable coaches to support the development of their players.

The New Zealand Warriors are hoping that these coaching changes will contribute to their success in the upcoming season.
