The Melbourne Storm is facing a challenge as they prepare for their final regular season matches, with captain Harry Grant set to miss the next two weeks due to a suspension. His ban comes after a shoulder charge on Canterbury's Harry Hayes during Melbourne's recent hard-fought victory.

Originally, Grant received a three-week suspension, which was subsequently reduced to two weeks following an early guilty plea. This adds pressure as the Storm still have two crucial top-eight matches remaining. They will take on the Sydney Roosters at home next Friday and then face the Broncos in Brisbane the following Thursday.

Despite this setback, Melbourne's position remains relatively secure; their points difference is 144 better than that of the Bulldogs, meaning two substantial losses would be needed for them to lose their top-two standing.

Coach Craig Bellamy informed that both players and medical staff will be consulted regarding who might need a rest. In this high-stakes environment, player fitness is crucial, with forward Trent Loiero demonstrating his endurance by making 48 tackles against the Bulldogs. Additionally, fellow State of Origin player Stefano Utoikamanu has contributed significantly, participating in 21 matches in his debut season with the Storm.

Second-rower Eli Katoa has proven to be a valuable asset as well, amassing 11 tries over 22 matches. Melbourne also tends to take a cautious approach with their star winger Xavier Coates. He recently showcased his skills by scoring his 19th try in 18 games against Canterbury.
