Former England forward James Graham has expressed that he has not been contacted regarding the England coaching position and feels that he would likely struggle if offered the role.
Following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Australia in the Ashes, England is in search of a new coach after parting ways with Shaun Wane.
Speculation has arisen, particularly from well-known coach Wayne Bennett, who previously managed England, suggesting that Sam Burgess, currently coaching in the English Super League, could collaborate with Graham as co-coaches for the national team.
Both Graham and Burgess possess playing experience in both the UK and abroad. While Burgess is actively coaching in the Super League, Graham is establishing a successful media career in Australia.
On his podcast, The Bye Round Podcast, Graham mentioned that despite having entertained the idea, he has not been approached and believes he wouldn't feel adequately prepared to take the reins ahead of the World Cup. He stated, "I have not been approached by anyone, and it's weird cause my first instinct would be no because I don't feel like I've got the runs on the board to take on such a serious job in such a serious tournament."
He also expressed concern over not wanting to do a disservice to the team's chances, noting, "Part of me thinks I'll be doing it an injustice, and that is the initial genuine response. I care about England's chances of winning, and I don't know if me being in the camp does that mean (I'm a) bit selfish."
