Phil Gould has proposed a bold solution if Nathan Cleary is unavailable for the State of Origin decider, advocating for the selection of Adam Reynolds as a replacement.
Speaking on 100% Footy, the veteran broadcaster and premiership-winning coach emphasized Reynolds' experience, suggesting he could effectively lead the Blues in his first Origin appearance since 2016.
Cleary's ongoing groin issue opens up opportunities for other playmakers, including Jarome Luai, Matt Burton, Isaiya Katoa, and Luke Metcalf.
However, Gould believes Reynolds' seasoned control and composure make him the ideal choice.
He stated, "Honestly, if it were me, and Cleary was out, and you might laugh at this but I wouldn't, I'd be picking Adam Reynolds."
