Canterbury Bulldogs' chief Phil Gould has shared encouraging preseason updates on key players, particularly highlighting Jacob Kiraz's exceptional off-season and clarifying Mitch Woods' fitness situation.

In response to inquiries from fans on social media, Gould praised Kiraz as a standout performer this summer, indicating that the explosive outside back has made significant progress ahead of the 2026 season.

Kiraz was one of the Bulldogs' most dependable strike assets last season, and with Gould's endorsement, expectations are high for him to have a breakout year under coach Cameron Ciraldo.

Gould also tackled concerns regarding halfback Mitch Woods, confirming that the young player is currently in the rehab group and undergoing a limited training regimen.

"Mitch has been with the rehab group on restricted training for a while… nothing major," Gould wrote on X.

"He hit a couple of speed bumps in the pre-Christmas period.

"Hoping to see him back with the main group soon…. Looking forward to seeing Mitch this season."
