Phil Gould has expressed concerns regarding the Sydney Roosters' reported interest in veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans.
He believes that signing Cherry-Evans could hinder the growth of the club's younger playmakers, particularly Sam Walker and Sandon Smith.
Speaking on his podcast, Six Tackles with Gus, Gould acknowledged Cherry-Evans' elite performance but questioned the rationale behind the Roosters' pursuit of him.
He emphasized that the real issue lies not with Cherry-Evans' skills but with the implications of his signing for the club's developing talent.
"I know there's been a lot of rumours and a lot of interest in Daly Cherry-Evans from the Roosters.
I can't understand that," Gould stated.
He pointed out that the Roosters have promising players like Walker and Smith, the latter of whom he praised for his remarkable performance on Anzac Day.
