NRL great Gorden Tallis has hit out at Roosters coach Trent Robinson for his criticism of the referee's decision to send off Dom Young for a high shot on Bulldogs' player Blake Taaffe.
Robinson believed Young should have only been sin-binned, but Young has since accepted a two-game ban for the incident.
"Definitely a sin bin, Blake got concussed from that.
I can't recall every send off, but we've had players stay on the field for less," Robinson said after the Roosters' unexpected 30-26 loss to the Bulldogs.
Tallis, speaking on NRL360, was baffled by Robinson's remarks, suggesting that the coach had missed the mark.
"I feel like that was a bit over the top.
If they start cracking down like that, we'll see a lot more send offs in the game," Robinson said.
The controversial incident has sparked debate within the rugby league community, with Robinson feeling the heat for his comments on the matter.
The clash between the Roosters and Bulldogs has left fans divided, with some supporting Robinson's stance while others believe the referee made the right call.
In the fast-paced world of rugby league, tensions run high and opinions clash like a fierce scrum.
Robinson's comments have added fuel to the fire, sparking a war of words among fans and experts alike.
As the dust settles on this incident, only time will tell how Robinson's outburst will impact the game moving forward.
