Queensland on my mind: Georgia to fulfil life-long dream with Origin debut
Georgia Hannaway is set to make her State of Origin debut for Queensland next Thursday night as they strive to avoid a series whitewash.
The 24-year-old playmaker has been selected to wear the No.14 jersey as a bench utility for the match at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle on May 29.
Hannaway, a former rugby sevens star turned NRLW standout, will face her Cronulla teammates-Emma Verran, Tiana Penitani Gray, and Ellie Johnston-who have been instrumental in NSW's current 2-0 series lead.
Her selection follows an impressive 2024 season where she earned the NRLW Rookie of the Year award, contributing four try assists and a try across seven games, and starting at five-eighth in the grand final against the Roosters.
Having previously been named as the 18th player for the first game and included in the extended squad for the second, Hannaway is set to receive her long-awaited chance to shine on the State of Origin stage.
