In a move that could be described as hanging up his boots, former Brisbane Broncos forward George Fai has officially announced his retirement from the rough and tumble world of rugby league.
After tasting sweet victory in the 2024 QLD Cup and State Championship with the Norths Devils, Fai has decided to call time on his career.
Making his debut for the Broncos back in Round 12 of the 2017 NRL season, Fai only managed to rack up three appearances for the club over a two-year stint.
Fans may recall his involvement in the 2017 World Club series loss to the Warrington Wolves.
A member of the 2017 Queensland Residents team, this front-rower will forever be associated with his time in the QLD Cup, where he battled it out in a whopping 120 matches spread across eight seasons and two separate stints.
Starting out with the Souths Logan Magpies from 2015 to 2019, Fai took a brief hiatus from the game before making a comeback and suiting up for the Brisbane Tigers, Redcliffe Dolphins, and finally, the Norths Devils.
His commitment to the sport and his teams over the years has left a lasting mark on the rugby league community.
