Luke Garner, a back-rower for the Penrith Panthers, is currently under contract but remains uncertain about his long-term future. The Panthers have stated that he will fulfill the length of his contract, yet Garner acknowledges the ongoing media speculation regarding his next move.
Since joining the Panthers in early 2023 from the Wests Tigers, Garner has elevated his performance and is now a premiership winner. He has showcased his versatility by playing both in the back row and in the centres, achieving 16 appearances this season despite facing injury challenges and being on the edge of the first-grade lineup in 2023 and 2024.
While Garner is contracted for another year, he has the opportunity to explore the open market starting November 1, alongside over 100 other players, as he seeks to secure his future in rugby league.
Reports from Zero Tackle indicate interest from teams such as the Manly Sea Eagles, Parramatta Eels, and St George Illawarra Dragons. Although the Panthers initially permitted Garner to discuss opportunities with rival clubs, they later confirmed that he would remain with them for the duration of his contract.
In a recent statement reflecting on the media buzz surrounding his future, Garner admitted, "not sure where I'll be" by 2027.
