Dane Gagai, after reaching the milestone of 300 first-grade matches in the NRL, has reportedly made a decision regarding his future with the Newcastle Knights.
He holds a mutual option in his contract for the 2026 season, and it appears he will exercise this option.
Over the past year, the Knights have been actively rebuilding their roster, offloading players like Daniel Saifiti and Jayden Brailey while securing new signings, including New Zealand international Dylan Brown for next season.
Although there were speculations last year about Gagai departing the club at the end of this season, recent reports from The Newcastle Herald indicate that the representative centre has chosen to continue playing through 2026.
His agent is nearing the completion of a new contract with the Knights.
Gagai expressed his commitment to the game, stating, "Until I feel like I lose the passion or I can't keep up, but I still feel there's another few years," in the lead-up to his milestone match against the Parramatta Eels.
