Gagai Brothers Eye Rare Club Opportunity

NRL Veteran Considers Unexpected Move to Team Up with Brother

Dane Gagai, a seasoned NRL player with 323 games and 16 years of experience, has achieved nearly everything in his career.

Despite his numerous accomplishments, he has yet to share the field with his brother, Jacob Gagai, at the club level.

Set to be off-contract at season's end, the 35-year-old is reportedly contemplating a departure from the Newcastle Knights, according to Love Rugby League.

He has caught the attention of Super League clubs but has emphasized that he would only consider a move if it allows him to play alongside his brother.

Jacob Gagai, the younger sibling, is currently affiliated with the Huddersfield Giants, where he was honored as the club's player of the year in his debut season.

Previously, he played in the NRL with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, making 17 appearances and scoring nine tries during the 2024 season.

Both brothers are in the same boat, with contracts ending at the same time; Dane with the Knights and Jacob with Huddersfield.

However, since they occupy similar positions on the field, any club interested would need to require two outside backs for this duo to be a viable option.

In light of ongoing discussions about his future, Dane has affirmed that, despite his age, he intends to continue playing beyond 2026.
