In a fierce battle that has gone down in rugby league history, the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles emerged victorious 50 years ago today, clinching their second premiership title.

The match, which took place on September 15, 1973, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, saw the Sea Eagles triumph over the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks with a score of 10-7.

This hard-fought victory is etched in memory not only for the final scoreline, but also for the savage brawls that erupted during the game.

Despite the brutality on the field, it was Manly legend Bob Fulton who ultimately made the difference, securing the premiership glory for the Sea Eagles.

As an exceptional centre, Fulton showcased his skills by scoring two tries, propelling Manly to consecutive premierships following their inaugural title win in 1972.

Reflecting on the intense grand final, Ken Arthurson, fondly known as the 'Godfather of Manly', recounted the challenges faced in a special interview series titled 'Arko,' featuring former player Peter Peters from the 1973 team.
