Lily Dick, a debutant for the Cowboys, has transitioned from rugby sevens to rugby league, influenced by her best friend and former teammate, Jakiya Whitfeld.

Both athletes have shared significant experiences, including their time representing Australia, with Dick previously earning a Commonwealth Games gold medal and performing on the international stage.

Now, at age 25, Dick has embraced the challenge of playing in the NRLW, debuting in Cowboys colors in Townsville alongside Whitfeld.

Their reunion marked a significant moment, as it was not long since they last played together at the 2021 Oceania Sevens Championship, also held in Townsville.

Whitfeld, who made the switch to league in 2022, was a key motivator in Dick's decision to explore rugby league.

Dick expressed her excitement, stating, "'Cool to be back together.'"
