In a surprising turn of events, star prop Addin Fonua-Blake has had a change of heart and decided to remain with the Warriors for the 2024 season, despite previously requesting an immediate release from the club.

Fonua-Blake, who still has three years remaining on his contract, had expressed his desire to return to Sydney due to compassionate reasons.

However, after a meeting between Fonua-Blake and the Warriors on Thursday night, it was agreed that he would stay in New Zealand for at least the next year before reassessing his future.

Following the news, clubs around the league were left scrambling to see if they had enough room in their salary cap to potentially sign the Dally M Prop of the Year.

However, it seems that Fonua-Blake's commitment to the Warriors remains strong for now.

In a statement, he emphasized that his decision was solely driven by family reasons and reassured Warriors fans of his dedication to the upcoming season.

"My only motivation for this move is for family reasons," Fonua-Blake stated.

"But I really want all Warriors fans to know that I am fully committed to getting into the 2024 season.

I can't wait to get back to training with my teammates with the aim to go even further in the upcoming season."

This unexpected turn of events will surely bring relief to Warriors fans who were concerned about losing one of their key players.

Fonua-Blake's decision to stay with the club for another year will provide stability and continuity to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.

It remains to be seen what the future holds beyond 2024, but for now, Fonua-Blake is focused on giving his all for the Warriors.
