Former NRL star Manase Fainu has lost his appeal over a knife attack outside a Mormon dance, according to news.com.au.
Fainu, who was convicted of wounding with intent to cause bodily harm, had been sentenced to at least four years and three months behind bars.
The former Manly Sea Eagles hooker denies the stabbing, which took place at an alcohol-free event organized by the Church of the Latter Day Saints in October 2019.
The appeal was dismissed by justices Mark Leeming, Natalie Adams, and Hament Dhanji at the Supreme Court of NSW.
Fainu, who was once seen as an up-and-coming NRL star, was stood down by the league after charges were laid in 2019.
During the trial, an eyewitness testified that they saw Fainu plunge a steak knife into the victim, puncturing his lungs and causing internal bleeding.
