In an impressive display of resilience, the youthful Cronulla Sharks claimed victory in the 'Trophy Final' at the Coca-Cola World Sevens tournament held in 1993.
Despite missing key players such as Andrew Ettingshausen and Les Davidson, the Sharks faced stiff competition from experienced teams loaded with first-grade talent.
Their first match against the Eastern Suburbs Roosters ended in defeat, with a score of 18-10.
However, they quickly bounced back, convincingly defeating the crowd-favorite South African Rhinos with a score of 24-10.
Although they couldn't contend for the major prize, securing second position in their pool meant they were still in the running for the Trophy.
In the Trophy quarter final, the young Sharks narrowly triumphed over a Novocastrian side featuring Knights legends Robbie O'Davis and Paul Harragon, winning by a score of 18-16.
This victory propelled them into the semi-finals, where they replicated their success against the Gold Coast Seagulls.
