Wigan Warriors have been crowned Super League champions after defeating Catalans Dragons in a thrilling final.

The victory marked Wigan's sixth Super League title and their first since 2018.

Despite the emotional retirement of Sam Tomkins, Wigan's players celebrated with one exception - their captain Liam Farrell, who immediately went to console his friend.

The match was seen as a potential fairy-tale ending for Tomkins, but Wigan proved to be the better team on the day.

Wigan Warriors have established themselves as the benchmark club this year, consistently winning when the stakes are high.

Coach Matt Peet expressed his pride in the team's achievement and highlighted their special group of players and the support from the entire club.

With strong recruitment already secured for next season, Wigan is expected to start as favorites.

The victory was hard-earned and well-deserved for the Warriors, who displayed courage and effort in their defensive play.

Crucial errors made by Catalans, coupled with the sin-binning of two players, ultimately took its toll on their performance.
