From Cowboy to Magpie: Payne takes flight with Wests Tigers

Former North Queensland Cowboys player and coach, Aaron Payne, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Wests Tigers' NSW Cup team, the Western Suburbs Magpies.

The announcement was made on the official website of the Wests Tigers.

Payne, who spent 11 seasons playing for the Cowboys, will join the Tigers on a two-year deal.

Prior to this appointment, he served as the head coach of the Townsville Blackhawks, the Cowboys' feeder team, for five years.

During his time with the Cowboys, Payne played a total of 219 games.

Following his retirement as a player, he transitioned into coaching and led the club's senior pathways teams.

Payne expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Wests Tigers and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
