Michael Jennings in staggering Roosters development amid three-year ban from NRL

Michael Jennings, the former NRL star who has been serving a three-year ban from the game, is rumored to be receiving interest from the Roosters for a potential comeback.

Despite being 35 years old, Jennings is eager to end his time in the sport on a high note.

The Roosters, who already boast talented centres in Joey Manu and Joseph Suaalii, may be looking to add an experienced player to their roster as a backup option in case of injuries.

Jennings' ban from the NRL came into effect in 2020 after he failed a doping test.

This led to his contract with the Eels being terminated.

However, his former coach at the Roosters, Trent Robinson, is reportedly interested in offering him a train and trial deal for the 2024 season.

Robinson had previously coached Jennings for three seasons during his time at the club.

If the deal goes through, Jennings would train with the Roosters for a weekly salary of approximately $1,000 but would not be eligible to play in the NRL until round 11.

This would give him the opportunity to prove himself and potentially earn a spot in the team's lineup later in the season.

Jennings has had a successful career in the NRL, winning the premiership with the Roosters in 2013 and playing a total of 122 games for the Panthers before that.

His experience and skills could provide valuable depth to the Roosters' lineup and help them maintain a strong presence in the competition.

While this potential comeback for Jennings may be seen as a surprising development considering his ban, it is a testament to his determination and desire to end his rugby league career on a positive note.

The Roosters, known for their astute player recruitment, may be willing to take a chance on him and provide him with a platform to showcase his abilities once again.
