Robinson hails camp with 'Roos as France prepare for RLWC26 play-off

French coach Laurent Frayssinous has emphasized the historic significance of the IRL Rugby League World Cup to his team as they gear up for a crucial match in France's recent history.

This Saturday at 12:30 am AEST, France will face Jamaica in a RLWC2026 play-off in Albi. Frayssinous, alongside FFRXIII director of rugby Trent Robinson, has selected the strongest possible squad to secure France's place as the ninth nation in World Cup history to qualify.

The lineup features rookie Sydney Roosters centre Enzo Griffiers and Canterbury Bulldogs forward Louis Grossemy, who has played 15 NSW Cup games this season. Both players have recently risen through the ranks of the French Under 19s team.

The team also includes talent from English Super League clubs, such as premiership-winning playmaker Arthur Mourgue of Hull KR, Hull FC-bound centre Arthur Romano, and York Knights forward Justin Sangare, in addition to a strong contingent from Catalans, led by Ben Garcia.

After plans for a Test match against Australia during the first Kangaroo Tour in 22 years fell through, the French squad dedicated two days to training with the current World Cup holders in London to prepare for the upcoming qualifier against Jamaica.
