Four Wests Tigers earn Fiji World Cup call-ups

Four Tigers named in Fiji World Cup squad

Fiji have been drawn in Group A alongside Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands at the 2026 Rugby League Men's World Cup.

The Bati open against the Cook Islands on Sunday, 18 October, at 4:05pm at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle.

They will then play Australia in Brisbane and New Zealand on the Gold Coast. The tournament starts on October 15.

Four Wests Tigers players are in Fiji's squad: Api Koroisau, Sunia Turuva, Solomone Saukuru and Josese Lanyon.

Koroisau has played 13 World Cup matches for Fiji since his first tournament in 2013.

The Tigers captain won the club's Players' Player Award after a season in which he played 19 games.

He recorded four try assists, two line-break assists and 953 running metres, averaging 50 metres per game.

He also made 775 tackles at 92 per cent efficiency.

After joining the Tigers in 2023, Koroisau will represent Fiji as a club player for the first time.

Turuva, who has appeared in four World Cup matches for Fiji, will also make his first international appearance as a Tiger.

He scored five tries in 21 games for the club in 2026.

Twenty-one-year-old Saukuru earned his first World Cup selection after making his NRL debut against St George-Illawarra in Round 24.

He signed a new two-year deal and scored four tries in four Tigers appearances, including two on debut.

Tigers junior Lanyon has also been selected for his first World Cup after making his NRL debut against the Gold Coast Titans in Round 15.

Head Coach Benji Marshall described Lanyon's performance as 'phenomenal'. Lanyon played four games at hooker in 2026.

Fiji have reached the World Cup semi-finals three times, but New Zealand eliminated them in the 2022 quarter-finals in England.
