Former great Bowen believes Walsh unlocking elite potential

Former NRL star Matt Bowen has weighed in on rising Brisbane Broncos fullback Reece Walsh, noting that while his talent is unquestionable, he still has some way to go before reaching the heights of elite players like Dylan Edwards, Kalyn Ponga, James Tedesco, and Tom Trbojevic.

Walsh's 2024 season was plagued by inconsistencies and fitness issues, limiting him to just 14 games as the Broncos fell short of the top eight.

Bowen, known for his dynamic style of play during his time at the Cowboys, shared his thoughts on what Walsh needs to focus on to unlock his full potential.

"I reckon he just needs to work on his fitness," Bowen said.

"We all know he's got that spark, but if he can start popping up all over the field like Dylan Edwards does week in and week out, and bring that competitive edge to both games and training...

If Reece can step up in that department, he'll be a top-notch fullback for years to come."

It seems like Walsh still has some work to do before he can truly shine on the field and cement his status among the game's elite.

With a bit more hard work and dedication, he could soon be making headlines for all the right reasons.
