Fonua-Blake's arrival: Will Sharks rule the NRL's seas?

LeagueNews.co | Jess Malloy

With the acquisition of Addin Fonua-Blake, the Cronulla Sharks have solidified their chances of entering the premiership race in 2025 and beyond.

While anything can happen in the world of rugby league, the Sharks are well-aware of the obstacles that may come their way.

Contracts in this sport are often as stable as a house of cards, and injuries are always lurking.

However, under the guidance of Craig Fitzgibbon, the team has shown promise by making the finals in the past two years.

Although their list of off-contract players in 2024 may not hold much weight, the Sharks will prioritize securing key talents such as Jesse Colquhoun, Bradin Hamlin-Uele, Jack Williams, Kayal Iro, and Niwhai Puru.

Nevertheless, even if they were to lose these five individuals, the Sharks possess the depth and resources to fill any gaps, be it through external recruits or development from their own ranks.
